Ubisoft is officially ending support for Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Breakpoint. Meaning that there will be no new content for the game.
Released in 2019, Ghost Recon: Breakpoint had a very rocky start, to say the least. From, bugs to server issues and criticism for its generic content, Breakpoint was not the success that Ubisoft had hoped.
Ubisoft NFT campaign was not well received
Furthermore, Ghost Recon Breakpoint arguably hit its lowest point after Ubisoft launched the NFT initiative “Quartz” which was very poorly received.
However, that’s not to say that there wasn’t fun content in Ghost Recon: Breakpoint. To be fair it did improve somewhat over the months, and it had events inspired by the Terminator as well as Splinter Cell.
Its final content update “Operation Motherland” was released in October 2021 and made a host of improvements as well as adding new modes to the game. Unfortunately, Breakpoint struggled to maintain its fanbase after many were put off by its launch mishaps.
That being said, Ubisoft has now announced that there will be no new content or events for Ghost Recon: Breakpoint. “First, we just want to say thank you for all the love and support you have brought to the game,” tweeted Ubisoft in a statement.
“The last four months marked the release of our final piece of content: the brand new Operation Motherland mode, tons of new items including 20th-anniversary iconic outfits and Quartz items for Ghost Recon Breakpoint.”
Ubisoft continued: “We will continue to maintain our servers for both Ghost Recon Wildlands and Ghost Recon Breakpoint and we truly hope you will continue to enjoy the game and have fun playing in solo or co-op with your friends.
“From the entire Ghost Recon team, we want to thank you again for your continued support and love you have for the franchise. The feedback you’ve given for Ghost Recon: Breakpoint has been instrumental and will help shape the future of the franchise,” concludes the statement.

Will Breakpoint still be playable online?
Yes, Breakpoint’s servers will remain active. For now, at least. However, as we all know, servers can be turned off at a moment’s notice. Especially if a game is underperforming. Hopefully, the servers will remain active for a good while yet.
It remains to be seen what Ubisoft has planned for the Ghost Recon series. Personally, I miss the strategic, linear experience offered by the Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter series.
