What do you think of it?

Sony’s Epic PS5 Logo Smashes Instagram Records

To say that Sony’s highly anticipated reveal at this week’s CES event was anti-climatic was an understatement. But in fairness, it would have surprised me if Sony had made a big console reveal with all the prices and new specification details, rather than saving it for a PlayStation Experience or State of Play event.

Instead we got a logo reveal, which was very underwhelming, not only in terms of revealed content, but also with the logo being very run of the mill.  For me personally, I think it would have been quite cool to have had the bright mixed colours of the original PS1 logo incorporated somehow.

However, despite how we might feel on the logo, it has smashed records on Instagram for being the most liked gaming related post on the social media channel, at least at the time of writing. In comparison, the Xbox Series X reveal had 990k likes on Instagram, while the Fortnite Avengers teaser had 2.6 million likes. Yet as it stands, on the official PlayStation post, it currently has a whopping five million likes!

So whatever your feelings are on the logo reveal, it’s certainly been spreading the word.

After the reveal, PlayStation fans took to Twitter to all say the same thing – it’s exactly what we expected.

However, Sony did reveal some impressive sale milestone numbers for the current console, the PS4.  Sony announced that the PS4 has sold over 106 million units, has over 100 million monthly users with just under 40 million of those being PS+ subscribers, and even the PSVR has shifted over 5 million units.
