A new trailer for Kirby and the Forgotten Land dropped during last night’s Nintendo Direct, and it is absolute nightmare fuel.
Picture this. You’re watching the Nintendo Direct, and wow look at that, it’s Kirby! He’s in an abandoned building, doing his usual thing of sucking up enemies.
But he doesn’t stop sucking. He swallows a car. His whole body is wrapped around it and you think, ‘oh hey, maybe Kirby can swallow big items and get new powers!’
Except he doesn’t swallow.
His mouth just envelopes the car, and now he can drive it. This is Mouthful Mode, and you now understand what true sin is.
Mouthful Mode is a new addition to Kirby where the pink blob can swallow things like a car, or a vending machine, or you know, a traffic cone. Each different Mouthful Mode has a unique ability that you’ll need to use to do certain tasks.
We all knew that Kirby was pretty soft and malleable, but the way he wraps around each massive item is unfathomable. We were not meant to see such sights. At the very least, it provides a changeup from the usual format you might find in a Kirby game. But at what cost?
The trailer also shows how Waddle Dee town grows in scope as you rescue more Waddle Dee’s. And more resources slowly become available. For example, you’ll be able to upgrade some of the non-Mouthful Mode abilities to become more powerful. And judging from an earlier trailer, you’ll be able to do some fishing at some point too.
Kirby and the Forgotten Land launches on Nintendo Switch next month on March 25.
