Elden Ring players are getting banned from playing the game fully online for picking up a hacked item, despite not knowing it was such.
A little while back, players discovered an item called Deathbed Smalls that was cut from the game. Why it was cut, we don’t know. It could simply be that the item is just a bit too risque, or just some arbitrary reason. But the only way to acquire the item is by playing on PC offline, and using Cheat Engine.
This, of course means that if you were to play online, Elden Ring’s servers would recognise it as cheating. Unfortunately, a number of Elden Ring players are being banned for picking up the underwear while playing online. Even though they don’t know it’s a hacked item.
One Elden Ring Player was banned after 220 hours of playtime
One Reddit user, Ok-Communication7125, shared how after 220 hours of playtime, they were banned for picking up the underwear. In their Reddit post, they shared their exchange with Bandai Namco over email regarding the situation. Once Ok-Communication7125 provided all the relevant information, Bandai Namco informed them that to avoid a soft-ban, they will need to delete all their save files and reinstall the game. Otherwise that ban would last for 180 days, which is roughly half a year.
A soft-ban means that players can still play online, but are put into a quarantine queue with other soft-banned players. It’s not ideal, but it’s up to the individual player as to whether they want to lose all the time spent or not. But it’s very unfair that other players are able to do this to anyone. So hopefully a fix will come soon preventing this.
