What could it be?

DOOM Developer id Software Has Mystery Game Rated

DOOM series developer id Software has had a mystery game rated by a classification board, but what could this mystery game be?

As picked up by VGC, the mystery game in question is called “Project 2021B” which clearly isn’t its final name, but it has been rated on the Australian Classification Board (ACB).

There are no major details to go by, other than this mystery game is developed by id Software, and published by the now Microsoft-owned, Bethesda.

Project 2021B was classified on Monday, June 28th, 2021, and it has an “M” rating for mature. The classification also mentions that the mystery game will have “online interactivity” as a feature.

At this time, we can only speculate as to what this game might be. I think it’s unlikely that it could be a new DOOM or Wolfenstein. Unless it’s perhaps some kind of VR spin-off or even a remaster of an old id Software title.

On June 22nd it was the 25th anniversary of the iconic arena shooter Quake, so maybe this mystery game could have something to do with this legendary series? There have been rumours that a new one could be incoming. It’s perhaps also worth keeping in mind that QuakeCon will return this coming August, so could there be a connection?

We will be keeping close tabs on this story and as soon as we learn more, we’ll be sure to update you as soon as we know.

In related news, the native next-gen version of DOOM Eternal has launched today on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, rejoice!
