Babylon’s Fall doesn’t seem to be doing particularly well, as its concurrent player count dropped below 10 on PC.
As spotted by TechRadar, the site SteamCharts points towards some bad omens for PlatinumGames latest title. For one, the all-time concurrent play count peak for the game is only 1166 players. Which isn’t ideal for a new IP at all. The thing that’s particularly upsetting is that at one point in the day on April 13, the concurrent player count hit the incredibly low point of only eight players.
At the time of writing, around 63 players had the game booted up. And it only has an average of 130 players at any given point in time over the last 30 days.
All in all, Babylon’s Fall is having a real rough go of it. We already knew that the game was a flop on Steam, only hitting around 650 concurrent players on its release day. This obviously doesn’t include PS4/PS5 versions of the game, but it still isn’t good news.
But reviews for the game didn’t speak particularly highly of it either. On Metacritic, the game is sitting at an unfavourable 40 from critics. With a user score of 2.1. Both of which point towards a game probably doomed to fail. And with Babylon’s Fall hitting such a low concurrent player count of eight, it doesn’t seem like it will be able to pick itself back up.
In general it looks like Babylon’s Fall is an IP that will be pretty quickly retired. And is another disappointing release for Square Enix, joining the likes of Marvel’s Avengers.
