Froggy is BACK! This time, Animal Crossing’s legendary amphibious piece of furniture has decided to become a table. You can sit on tables, though, right? Whatever, I’m still calling it Froggy Chair.
Froggy chair first appeared in Animal Crossing New Leaf for the 3DS and instantly became a wholesome internet meme. Sadly, Froggy chair didn’t make the cut for the Nintendo Switch’s Animal Crossing New Horizon’s, despite being immensely popular with the internet at large. However, froggy has found a way to sneak into the limelight again, thanks to a new collection of Sanrio amiibo cards.

The collaboration with Sanrio means that Animal Crossing players can use Amiibo cards to unlock new villagers and items. This means that, if desired, players can dress up their entire village with Hello Kitty memorabilia. Each Amiibo card pack relates to a specific character, with six-packs in total to collect. Each pack also holds true to a particular Sanrio theme, which is precisely how froggy has managed to sneak onto the game.
The new “froggy table” can be found within the Toby set of Amiibo cards, which appears to be themed around the Sanrio character Keroppi. Featuring big eyes and a V-shaped mouth, Keroppi is Sanrio’s resident frog. He just so happens to be my favourite Sanrio character; I mean, just look at that little bow tie!
You see, Froggy isn’t a specific character. Froggy is a way of life. It’s a wholesome ideal that represents being able to decorate your house in any way you see fit. It doesn’t matter which frog is in the game; what matters is that there IS a froggy piece of furniture. Perhaps we’ll see the original Froggy Chair make a return in the future, along with its iconic matching lily pad table. Just imagine it, a whole house filled with froggy attire.
The Animal Crossing Sanrio Collaboration Packs are coming on 26th March 2021 and are exclusive to Target in the US.
